found a new-to-me haiku blog by vaughn seward by way of dustin's site . . . reading the yellow moon articles that alison brought to our attention and found this quote in an article by janice bostok "the essence of haiku is to use ordinary words and yet be separate from the ordinary" (--buson) . . . another new-to-me haiku/tanka blog Surimono Garden, over at livejournal . . . and another interesting livejournal site, yorukamome . . . . and tanka at crane haven . . . and i found this over at teacup bbs -- from a link off haiku & ryo (a japanese site with english-language haiku--can anyone tell me who the author is?) . . .

Danny Bradshaw wrote a book about it entitled 'Ghosts on the Battleship North Carolina' . . . even got a shot on the SciFi channel series 'Ghost Hunters'

DISCLAIMER: This shark in no way, shape or mannerism resembles any mother-in-law that i personally know. my own mother-in-law is AWESOME! the gentleman who uttered this remark said so with a dry sense of humor that was totally unappreciated by his wife.

this morning, i was trying to write a haiku-in-the-sand to photograph . . . a woman walking a chihuahua stopped to ask what i was doing . . . i tried to explain but she just shook her head, said: "well, god bless ya" and walked away . . .

just so y'all don't think it's all fun and games. we did go SHOPPING today for a change. well, my wife shopped and i watched her shop. she doesn't actually allow me to carry any money of my own :)

i can't wait to get home (yea, right) so i can catch up on my blog readings . . . my grueling vacation routine consists of sunrise beach walk, breakfast, processing photographs, composing haiga, NAP, supper, sunset beach walk, starbucks and BED . . .
it's a tough life but someone's gotta do it, may as well be ME ME ME ME !!!!!

ain't technology grand? my camera, a laptop and a starbucks with free wireless . . . who could ask for more.
